Ephesians 1:17-23 Amplified version
Through His resurrection, Christ has been raised high above every power and principality to be seated next to the Father: ‘Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places]. Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world but also in the age and world which are to come.’ (v20-21)
He is the supreme head of the church, ’which is His body the fullness of Him who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him who makes everything complete and who fills everything everywhere with Himself]’ (v 23)
Where Christians gather, the full measure of Christ is also present. In us, His church, He is fully present and at work in our prayers. He is raised above all powers and so our prayers have that power within them and operate from the position of being seated next to the Father. We therefore not only have the right but the responsibility to pray Christ’s power out across the world. To join together in unity so that the full expression and power of Christ can be brought to fruition here on earth. We are called to come together in unity so that Christ Jesus can operate through us collectively. Whether we speak in tongues or not, pray loudly with passion or quietly and gently, speak out or pray inside, Jesus wants us all in order to express the fullness of Himself through our diversity. It is the poison of the enemy that whispers doubt and insecurity over the question of whether people pray in tongues or not; It is irrelevant. Christ longs for us all to pray in whatever way is right for us so long as we pray.
When we pray and fast through the month as part of the Ashford Ring of Fire, we stand shoulder to shoulder with each other and the power of the Holy Spirit moves from one to the other. As we continue to do so, we become spiritually linked and it is in that where the image of the ring of fire becomes manifest. We never pray alone and each contribution is essential for Jesus to express the full measure of Himself. We become aligned with His desires for Ashford and the world. Our prayers take on the heart of God and when we give expression to His heart and His desires, united as one, we will truly see God move in power. Be encouraged and let us stand together in love.
May the blessing of the Lord be upon you today and may the fullness of His presence be with and upon you forever more. Amen
